Single Point Diamond Turning

Syntec Optics is one of few facilities worldwide that specializes in diamond turning, mold manufacturing, and design for manufacturability. In comparison to our competitors, we offer Single Point Diamond Turning for components such as polymer prisms, freeforms, diffractives, spheres & aspheres and mirrors while our patented High Refraction Diamond Turning is utilized to cut more challenging materials. Whether we are creating a prototype or creating custom molds for automated molding equipment, our customers can count on repeatable results to sub-micron levels. At our all-in-one facility, we have a fully equipped metrology lab, State-of-the-art temp./humidity controlled environment that maintains even the tightest tolerances, a full tool room with milling, grinding, plano polishing and EDM capabilities, and both wire and die sink. This allows us to design and build custom diamond turning optics and proprietary reverse engineering of mold inserts to molded parts.

Freeform Optics

LINE

Freeform optics can offer you numerous advantages for complex beam shaping. We are able to direct diamond turn freeform surfaces in our diamond turning lab for prototypes as well as mold inserts for higher volume production while meeting challenging requirements for optical form, mid-spatial frequencies, and surface roughness.

Microlens Arrays

LINE

Microlens arrays are utilized in a variety of applications such as displays, machine vision, optical computing, 3D imaging, astronomy, micro-machining, diode laser collimation, laser-fiber coupling, optical switching, multiplexing and beam bundling for medical instruments, optosensorics, telecommunications, laser optics, measurement systems and sensors. These applications require high efficiency and non-gaussian uniformity. Refractive microlenses are useful alternatives for applications demanding miniaturization and reduced costs of alignment packaging. We provide microlens arrays in two forms: orthogonal or hexagonal arrangements. Advantages of microlens arrays designed and manufactured by Syntec Optics include long term stability, monolithic structure, increased transmission, efficient transformation and homogenization and beam shaping.

Spheres & Aspheres

Syntec Optics is your source for molded spheres and aspheres for a wide range of applications. Asphere lenses are progressively expanding to imaging, sensing, and detecting applications. techniques, equipment and metrology has allowed us to recommend more aspheric elements that reduce cost and overall components used in systems design.

Capabilities/Accomplishments
  • Surface roughness held to 10 Angstroms
  • Completed free form in 76.2mm lens with 200mm offset aspheres
  • Capability to manufacture higher degree polynomials

Diffractives

For over a decade, Syntec Optics has been making polymer diffractive lenses for complex applications. We can mold or diamond turn lenses with our innovative practices to meet your needs. We combine diffractive surfaces with an aspheric shape to offer our customers a cost-effective solution. Whether you are starting a new project or looking for replacement polymer optics, our team is ready to discuss our options with you.

Capabilities/Accomplishments
  • Achieved sub-micron gratings with spacing at 7.5 microns
  • Step height accomplished from 700nm to 1300nm in diamond turning
  • Build masters and replication tools for higher volume production

Mirrors

Syntec Optics uses Single Point Diamond Turning (SPDT) manufacturing techniques for producing flat mirrors, spherical mirrors, off-axis parabolic (OAP) mirrors, off-axis elliptical (OAE) mirrors, and other precision metal optical components. Excellent process control and state-of-the-art metrology set-up allow Syntec to offer precision and speed that match your expectations.
