Medical

LINE

Syntec Optics has been a global leader in medical optics for over 3 decades. Whether you need plastic optics for dental imaging or optical plastic for ophthalmic lenses.

Medical Diagnostics

LINE

We offer a selection of precision optics to our customers in the area of medical diagnostics such as – plastic optics, endoscopic optics, and optics for spectroscopy. We have partnered with clients to develop and innovate the manufacturing of medical optics for devices used in optometry optics as well as veterinary eye exam optics using custom plastic optical components including custom lenses, lens doublets, and optics with custom coatings. As well, Syntec Optics has extensive expertise in the design, manufacturing and system integration of precision micro optics for endoscopy. With the rise of spectroscopy devices, we design, develop and manufactures precision optical components for various applications and types of spectroscopy such as IR spectroscopy, Raman Spectroscopy, Mass Spectroscopy, UV Spectroscopy, etc.

Microfluidics

LINE

We are a recognized world-leader in manufacturing, designing and the supplying of microfluidics. Microfluidics is the science and technology of manipulating and controlling fluids, usually in the range of microliters (10-6) to picolitres (10-12), in networks of channels with lowest dimensions from tens to hundreds of micrometers. We have devised methods to create sustainable, stronger and yet inexpensive PMD (Polymer Microfluidic Devices). We’ve refined our work in the field to produce one of the best Lab-On-Chip solutions and created an integrated design which allows for multiple different applications for the lab-on-chip. One of the major usages of the lab-on-chip concept is towards Microfluidic Diagnostics. Our specifically designed solution ensures that applications such as medical diagnostics occur with minimal use of fluids, to the tune of Picolitres, and yet give the precise results. At Syntec Optics we keep in mind the various requirements for Microfluidics. We make PDMS Microfluidic devices that when integrated with lab-on-chip serve as perfect devices for rapid parallel testing, making a more efficient device than other microfluidics chips due to the hydrophobic nature of the PDMS. Syntec Optics custom manufactures a Micro Fluidic Optical Assembly used within a blood gas analyzer. One of our biggest achievements in this field was the manufacturing of microfluidic devices including optical waveguides used in the detection of HIV.

Surgical Components and Systems

LINE

Optics has been a useful and powerful technology to assist doctors and all forms of healthcare practitioners carry out examination and diagnosis of their patients. The advent of minimally invasive surgery (MIS) which avoids cutting open patients and instead, perform small cuts and incisions through which a variety of different surgical instruments, such as catheters and probes, are inserted through these small opening, thus minimizing the postoperative pain and discomfort. Syntec Optics provides optical components and systems for surgical applications.

Medical Sensing

LINE

Syntec Optics provides integrated photonics technology for medical sensing (diagnostics) applications. Two overriding requirements drive the medical diagnostics field: first, a mandate that the information obtained from the diagnostic system is accurate, and second, that the information is obtained at the lowest cost possible. Detection of biological substances and species in human samples using silicon photonic integrated circuits (PICs) is possible. PIC-based diagnostic devices are quantitative and reliable. The chip format provides more information than is currently available from existing products, at a lower cost. Syntec solutions integrate a PIC sensor with a plastic microfluidic carrier having a form factor compatible with existing analyzers.
